Ted Haggard, the evangelical leader alleged to have had a three-year affair with a male escort, has stepped down from his leadership role at the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The church will be investigating the allegations.Through a written statement delivered today through his lawyer, Martin Nussbaun, Haggard said: "I am voluntarily stepping aside from leadership so that the overseer process can be allowed to proceed with integrity. I hope to be able to discuss this matter in more detail at a later date. In the interim, I will seek both spiritual advice and guidance."What New Life Church needs is a good spokesman during their ongoing investigation. Cue the McClellatron 3000!
