… Democrats were too busy trying to stand as close as possible to the Republicans on all of these issues, in the deluded hope that some swing voter would slip and accidentally pick them instead. Think what kind of populist hay Democrats might have made over the big wet kiss to powerful special interests that is the bankruptcy bill, if only prominent Democrats – from Reid, Biden, Byrd, and Bayh in the Senate to House Minority Whip Hoyer – hadn’t voted for it.

Ouch. So true.
