What I'm Watching

This is a thread to share all the good things you're watching at the moment, or have recently watched. Serialized shows on broadcast or streaming; films; digital shorts; stand-up; documentaries; performances — whatever! Tell us what you're watching and enjoying these days.

I'm watching — using the present tense here, because although I've already watched it, I am definitely going to watch it again, and again — Hannah Gadsby's stand-up special Nanette, available on Netflix.

On the one hand, I want to tell you literally everything about this special, because OMFG it is everything. On the other hand, I saw it knowing absolutely nothing about it. I hadn't heard of it or Gadsby when I saw it; Netflix just recommended it to me (good job, Netflix!) the day it came out, and I happened to be looking for something to watch.

Seeing it without knowing anything about it made it even more mind-blowing for me, so I will resist gushing endlessly, even as I realize that telling you I want to gush endlessly gives you an expectation that I didn't have.

I will tell you only this one line from this beautiful, powerful piece of art by the extraordinary Gadsby: "There is nothing stronger than a broken woman who has rebuilt herself."

Ain't that the motherfucking truth.

A friend of mine told me she thought, while watching Nanette, that it sounds like Gadsby has read Shakesville. I don't know that Gadsby would take that as a compliment, but I hope she would. I certainly do.

How about you?
