The Superior People, So They Claim

Something that is continually striking every time we get a closer look at anyone willing to work for Donald Trump is how truly bereft of quality humanity they are. No empathy, no integrity, no competence, no intelligence, no eloquence, no courage, no wit.

It's continually flabbergasting that so much of the political press insists on pretending that this is a normal administration, and refuses to observe, even in the most veiled fashion, that Trump's presidency is a real collection of utterly contemptible creatures.

It's embarrassing. Surely even the most intractably loyal deplorables knows, deep down, if they watch even a moment of Pompeo or any of these wrecks, how embarrassing it is. It's humiliating that this is best Trump can do.

That's exactly right. And they're all people who bray the loudest about how they're superior to us, sheerly by virtue of being white, male, Christian, American-born, etc. But they're just unimpressive AF. In every conceivable way.

The Trump administration is truly, truly, privilege in action. (And the ultimate example of what "identity politics" really looks like.) It's just aggressive mediocrity, empowered exclusively by unearned privilege.

And I'm fucking sick of looking at it.
