Via Mary comes the terrible (but hardly surprising, of course) news that one of the convicted Steubenville rapists has been released from juvenile detention. He was sentenced to one year, and served about nine months.
Upon his release, Ma'lik Richmond's attorney released a statement, which reads in part:
The past sixteen months have been extremely challenging for Ma'lik and his extended family. At sixteen years old, Ma'lik and his family endured hardness beyond imagine for any adult yet alone child.By way of reminder, Richmond's victim Jane Doe was 16 years old at the time of the assault. The statement did not mention her at all.
