Hi Shakers - I've been pondering trying to get started reposting these, and thought today was as good a day to start as any.
But since I support the SOPA Strike along with Liss and the other Shakesville contributors, this is actually a post to say there won't be an NQDTR today. I'm a creative person myself, I'm even performing on stage this Friday night, and I believe strongly in my right to determine the use of my own work. But I believe there are far better ways to serve my needs as a creator of content and owner of IP than this piece of corporate shill work.
Netizens of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your freedom!
Being a not-USan, I thought I'd bring you who share that trait with me the idea that if you're outside the US, you will still be greatly affected by this bad legislation. I suggest contacting your own governmental representatives in your own country, and telling them to let your $FOREIGN_AFFAIRS people know that you want pressure put on the US to not allow censorship of the world's Net, by the content corporations or by totalitarian governments. IP Protection is an important area of law, and it should be done right, not in a hurry and in service to the giant corporations of the mainstream media, or to repressive governments' wish to limit the Net freedom of their citizens. Knowledge is power, and they know it: opposing this legislation helps keep that avenue to civil liberties open.
In Canada, you can find your Member of Parliament through this page here, ou ici en français. Urge them politely but firmly to put pressure on the US to stop this flawed legislation, and start again with a better proposal.

I think we really could use a thread of good news today.
I'm changing the format of this a touch. We're going to try a one-thread version of this, and hopefully people can keep the congratulations messages to a minimum - through use of the Like button, for instance.
The NQDTR, for those who've not encountered it before (because depression got to me, and I stopped posting them), is a thread wherein Shakers can report a teaspoon that they did or encountered. A teaspoon can be anything: tiny little things, or great big things. You don't need to apologize for the size of the teaspoon here. It's Not Quite Daily because I don't want to pressure myself to do it every day, but I'm going to try and have a couple a week. You can find old NQDTR threads through the label at the bottom of the post.
Because we want this to be a concentrated thread of goodness, I ask that you keep the "ooh, that was awesome" messages to a minimum - if you see someone's already said something to that comment, just add your Like click.
Comments of the sort "ooh, great idea, I think I'll adapt it thusly for my local situation" are useful and on-topic, as are comments with teaspoon ideas inspired by other Shakers' efforts.

(For those wondering where I've been, I've simply been on a business trip to VeryBusyLand; dwindling fundage meant I had to take on day-work alongside my own business of translating, which has meant for the last few weeks - and a few more to come - I'm working long hours, and have few spoons left to spare when I get home. I don't have MS to live with, but my chronic pain condition has some similar obstacles, and that really is a brilliant essay on how it feels. Anyway, missing you all and can't wait to have some spare energy/time again to get back. I've got a queue of things-to-write-about that's getting as long as my cane.)
