How do I even begin? My teenage years were melancholic. I have a special folder titled and tagged "Sad Favorites" that is filled with way too many songs to post here from my "woe is me" teenager years. I usually hit play when adult sadness emerges or I feel maudlin.
A sampling below:
Kate Bush- "All The Love" (Lyrics)
Coil's version of "Tainted Love"
This Mortal Coil's version of Tim Buckley's "Song to The Siren." (Lyrics)
Unfortunately, I didn't discover Nina Simone until my late teens, but "I Hold No Grudge" is prominent these days. (Lyrics)
Now I need a drink and something "upbeat" from my teenage years. HA!
