Things I didn't do under the influence of alcohol

As I approach Year Six of my sobriety, I tend to be more philosophical about my days as a drinker. Gone are the days when I look back in shame at my alcoholism. Because while I haven't made all reparations yet, I know that I'm working toward redemption.

But these days, while I look back at all the things I have done under the influence of alcohol, I also look back at the things I didn't do. Such as:

Remember folks, being an alcoholic isn't easy, especially when you're still off the wagon. And know I'm more than willing to lend an ear to anyone who is still fighting the bottle. I've been there, after all, and I'm at a stage where I'm willing to talk about it.

At very least, though, I want the drinkers of the world to know that, while drinking will cause you nothing but problems in the end, it won't make you do things that you have never had any interest in doing, or make you change your beliefs. Those things are ingrained in you. All the alcohol does is bring it out for all to see.
