Michael Eisenstadt is not M. Thomas Eisenstadt

In regard to my previous post - "M. Thomas Eisenstadt - Is John McCain's new foreign policy advisor a racist, transgenderphobic, homophobic, sockpuppeting liar?," I just finished this e-mail exchange with Michael Eisenstadt of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, where he categorically denies having ever written under a name other than his own, and says he is not now working with any Presidential campaign:

Message: Mr. Eisenstadt,

I left a phone message for you earlier and I thought I'd back it up with a message. Do you also write under the name M. Thomas Eisenstadt? I researched this some and found quite a few similarities between the two of you. Of course, maybe you just have similar names and backgrounds.

Thank you for your time and regards,

Bill Wolfrum
Dear Mr. Wolfrum:

Geez Louise! I never heard of this guy before you called my attention to him, but yikes, there are a lot of similarities--at least superficial--in our bios.

And to think that we both live in the Washington, DC area and our paths have never crossed!

But no, I do not write under his name nor any other name but my own, which is Michael Eisenstadt.

And I'm neither a "leading light" in any political movement (especially the neocon), nor have I worked on any presidential campaigns.

Thanks for pointing him out to me, though.

I couldn't find a picture of him online (let me know if you find one), though I suspect that he's better looking than me.

Again, thanks for the heads up!

Best wishes,

Mr. Eisenstadt,

Thank you so much for the reply. One last question, if that's ok. Are you working with the McCain Campaign? Because it seems extremely strange that M. Thomas Eisenstadt would work with the Giuliani (sic) campaign, when you, by far, have a much more distinguished background when it comes to foreign affairs. Honestly, there's very little I can find on the guy on the Internet aside from his posts and people writing in to promote his posts, while you have a remarkable Web presence and have been around the scene in respected circles for quite some time.

Thanks again,

Bill Wolfrum
Dear Mr. Wolfrum:

No, I am not working on or affiliated with the McCain Campaign, nor am I working on or affiliated with any other campaign at this time.

Hope this helps!

With warmest regards,

Michael Eisenstadt

Mr. Eisenstadt,

Thanks so much for your replies.

Being a journalist (I've worked at a number of daily newspapers, as well as magazines), I'm going to post your initial responses to me, because the similarities are just so overwhelming (both live in Washington, both are long-time Near East policy experts) and it's newsworthy as he claims to work for the McCain Campaign. Basically it seems like maybe he's stealing your identity in a way, especially since he once wrote a blog under the URL: MichaelEisenstadt.com (links to that are now dead).

Basically, a site I work with - Shakesville.com - deals with many issues affecting the feminist and the GLBT communities, and M. Thomas Eisenstadt has truly been trangenderphobic, racist and homophobic in his postings. So, being that I wrote about the similarities between you, I just want to have you on record denying that you guys are one and the same, and then maybe we can figure out who he is, exactly.

Thanks again for your time and your replies.

Best regards,

Bill

So that is what Micheal Eisenstadt has to say on this matter at this point and my research on the subject backs this up. Michael Eisenstadt has basically been taken advantage of by the hoax that is M. Thomas Eisenstadt. I plan on investigating this more tonight, and my next post will be on M. Thomas Eisenstadt, his massive army of sockpuppets, and how someone with so little presence on the Web could, in fact, be named a foreign policy advisor for John McCain's Campaign.
