It's Like Truth, Only the Opposite

John McCain would be more credible as a straight-talkin' maverick if he wouldn't keep lying. Tonight, Fox News broadcast a John McCain town hall because, you know, running free advertising for the GOP is what they do. But McCain told them that it was a town hall with Republicans, Democrats, and independents in the audience. That was a lie.

For those of you generally opposed to YouTube, Atrios has helpfully compiled a transcript:
I reported at the top of this hour that the campaign had told us at Fox News that the audience would be made up of Republicans, Democrats, and independents. We have now received a clarification from the campaign and I feel I should pass it along to you. The McCain campaign distributed tickets to supporters, Mayor Bloomberg, who of course is a registered Republican, and other independent groups.
So to the pantheon of "things John McCain does that are exactly like George W. Bush does," add "Hand-picking the audience to keep mean people out of the room." That's not change we can believe in, my friends.
