The final scene in this clip is so perfect in its capacity to convey how deeply condescending magnanimity can be when it comes too late. Dan (Josh Charles) is sincere, as he always has been, but Casey (Peter Krause) just wants a cookie.
I don't think Sorkin intended it that way. But then he's always struck me as the kind of guy who gets resentful when he doesn't get a pat on the head after doing what he was told to do by someone for whom he should have done it without being told he ought to.
