BILL KRISTOL: Look, the only people for Hillary Clinton are the Democratic establishment and white women. The Democratic establishment -- it would be crazy for the Democratic Party to follow an establishment that's led it to defeat year after year. White women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that.First off, yes, the Democrats have been doing very poorly. We've only won three of the last four presidential elections (one was reversed on a technicality, but wev), and hold both houses of Congress, so clearly the Democratic establishment must be destroyed.
Second, though: "White women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that"? What the hell is even going through your mind when you say something like that? The statement is so insane that Britt Hume -- Britt Hume -- felt compelled to say, "Bill, for the record, I like white women."
Bill Kristol, of course, immediately said, "I know, I shouldn't have said that." Well of course he shouldn't have; he never should say anything, because he's always wrong. He's like Cassandra in reverse: He predicts the future and observes the present with a perfectly inaccurate record, yet people still take him seriously. If there was any justice in the world, this would get him fired by the New York Times -- I mean, he believes every white woman reading the paper is a "problem," which could be, er, problematic for the Times -- but I've no doubt he'll keep falling up the ladder until he's Minister of Propaganda for President-for-Life Giuliani.
