A Daily Dose of Fear

Bush thinking and saying

Since I know how much you kids like to read and watch our illustrious leader, here he gives a DAILY DOSE OF FEAR. Little old Congress is being mean to Bush because the House version of the Protect America Act doesn't give the telecommunication companies retroactive immunity from illegal activities they may have performed in the past to PROTECT YOU. The Senate Version of the bill will PROTECT AMERICA says Bush because he has to know what everyone is saying and thinking.

Our stubborn goat president had yet another of his hissy fits because HE ISN’T GETTING HIS WAY DAMMIT. You are ALL GOING TO DIE at the hands of terrorists unless every government agency can intercept ALL of your correspondence. Oh, and shield the telecoms from lawsuits because they BROKE THE FUCKING LAW. Mean old Congress has had plenty of time to renew this legislation. Bush needs the legislation NOW because he is leaving the country to visit Africa. (After remaining in the BUBBLE for seven years, Bush developed a fondness for world travel in this final year.) He needs to nurture his compassionate side by having photo-ops with AIDS orphans. He doesn’t want to delay his trip if Congress doesn’t pass this legislation NOW.

And remember, unless this law is renewed, YOU WILL ALL DIE!

"I certainly hope not," Bush said. "I can assure you that al-Qaida in their planning isn't thinking about politics, they are thinking about hurting the American people again."

"I guess you got to come to the conclusion that there's a threat to America, or not a threat," Bush said. "I mean, evidently, some people just don't feel that sense of urgency. I do. And the reason I do is I firmly believe that there are still people out there who would do us harm."

Expiration of the current Protect America Act would not mean an immediate end to wiretapping. Existing surveillance could continue under the law for a year from when it began — at least until August. Any new surveillance the government wants to institute could be implemented under underlying FISA rules, which may require warrants from the secret court. (AP)
