And Hillary Clinton claims to be running as a proud woman! For shame. Where was
her outrage last night when 17 of the questions were asked by men and only 6 by women? CLEARLY, the MAN is trying to keep women out of this new media revolution. How could Hillary Clinton just stand there and say nothing about this injustice?!?
Now, maybe it's me...but isn't this indeed an injustice? I mean, it certainly isn't the greatest injustice in history, but it strikes me as incredibly disappointing that in 2007, in a debate that was supposed to bring the voice of the American people to the fore, that 75% of those voices were male.
KLo can snark away, but the fact is that for all her faux outrage, someone or something is trying to keep women out of this new media revolution. I think it probably has to do more with the dominant social order than anything conscious -- indeed, I doubt the CNN and YouTube folks even noticed when selecting their questions. But its effects are obvious -- even in cases where we're trying to open the forum to everyone, men are overrepresented by a 3-to-1 margin. I don't expect Hillary Clinton to speak out about it during the debate, and I don't think anyone else does either, not even the evil Amlissa MarcEwan, who KLo later cites. But a 17-to-6 margin isn't trivial, and saying so doesn't make one strident.
